Now that your turkey dinner has been thoroughly digested, and the happy memories of time spent with family and/or friends on Thanksgiving are just happy memories, it's time to start anticipating our next small group!
We will be meeting at the Shelley's at 7:30pm on Thursday for fellowship and a discussion about serving. Not serving a tennis ball with the strength and speed of Andy Roddick, but how we as Christians serve others: What is our motivation? Who & where should we serve? How do we make time for it? You don't wanna miss it!
Also, you can look forward to hearing more information on Thursday about ice skating this weekend, our upcoming 20somethings Christmas party, and plans to attend one of the Christmas services at WillowCreek as a group!

One last reminder - no small group on Thanksgiving (November 26th) - enjoy some extra time with family!

November 5th Small Group
This week in Small Group we're talking about CONFLICT! And, unless you are a hermit (which you aren't if you're thinking about coming to small group), you've probably experienced conflict in one of your relationships at some point recently. So, come prepared for a discussion that will hopefully encourage you to deal with conflict in all kinds of relationships in a positive and redemptive manner.
We're meeting at the Shelley's on Thursday November 5th at 7:30. Check the calendar above for the address. Hope to see you there!
Also, check out the calendar for new events in November and December. Coming up this Friday we're having a bonfire at Laurie's house (address in the calendar above) - see you there at 8pm! Bring a lawn chair if you have one!

October Potluck
Don't forget that tomorrow, October 29th, is POTLUCK night! We're meeting at the Shelley's at 6:30pm. Bring a dish to share and join us for a great dinner and some fellowship. Since it's potluck night, we'll be taking a break from the weekly discussion questions. Don't worry, we'll resume the conversation next week!
Also, there's going to be a scary movie night on Friday at Sarah & Kristi's apartment in Wheaton (1011 Taft Ave, Apt 3A). We'll be watching The Changeling, a classic horror movie from the 80s ... (not the Angelina Jolie Changeling, though that was disturbing but in a different way). Head on over at 7:30, we'll be starting the movie at 8pm.

Week 4: Journey to Oneness
Tomorrow (10/15) we'll be meeting at the Shelley's house (see the address in the calendar above) at 7:30pm for a discussion of this week's sermon, "Journey to Oneness". What does it mean to "leave & cleave"? How do you build a solid foundation in marriage so that it can last a lifetime? I predict we will also get into some good discussion about "spiritual leadership"... Come prepared to share your ideas and learn from others!
Also, set aside your Sunday afternoon (3pm) to hang out Greg & Lauren's house this week. We'll be watching some football, playing games, and participating in other fun shenanigans. If you didn't get the email with complete details, let me know (jillheaton@gmail.com) or touch base with us after the 10:45 church service on Sunday.

Week 2: Mythbusters Discussion
This week we're meeting on Thursday night, 10/1 at 7:30pm, at the Shelley's house (see address in the calendar above) to continue discussing love, intimacy & marriage. We had a great discussion on singleness last week, and this week we are continuing the theme by talking about several common "myths" about marriage.
In case you missed Ray's sermon this week, those myths are:
(1) Marriage will end my loneliness
(2) Marriage will heal my hurts
(3) We will always feel like we're in love
(4) Strong marriages grow naturally
(5) Through marriage I'll change my spouse.
Did (or do) you believe any of those? Spend some time thinking about these myths and any others you may have about marriage. And come prepared to add your two cents about the questions from the bulletin handout this week!

Slandering Jesus
Join us this week on THURSDAY, September 17th, at Laurie's house as we finish up our study of Erwin Lutzer's book "Slandering Jesus". Don't worry, WE are not slandering Jesus. Instead we are investigating some of the ways that Jesus has been slandered by scholars who have made him into someone that no longer resembles the Jesus of the Bible. We'll gather at 7:30pm and start the study around 8pm.
Also, it's time to start looking forward to next week's potluck and the kickoff of Parkview's new sermon series on love, intimacy, and marriage! More details to come...

September News
For the month of September, we have some exciting changes for our weekly Bible Study! We are trying out a new night this month -- Thursday rather than Tuesday. At the end of the month, we will decide whether to make this change permanent, so please give us feedback about whether this works better for you.
Also, Laurie has graciously opened her new home to us, so we are meeting at her house. Her address is 309 S. Hale, Wheaton IL. Contact Laurie (Laurie_Lenertz@hotmail.com) if you want specific directions or have any questions.
Finally, we will be participating in Parkview's church-wide "Going the Distance" series from September 20th to November 8th. If you are interested in discussing love, intimacy, and marriage with other 20somethings, plan to join us at our weekly Bible Study. If you are joining us, you do not need to fill out one of the cards at church -- just join us!
And for your enjoyment, here is a picture from our recent canoeing trip. We ended up canoeing on the lake at Blackwell Forest Preserve, and had a blast despite the fall-like weather.

August 18th Update
Join us tonight as we continue (and perhaps finish) our study of 2nd Timothy! We're meeting at the Shelley's at 7:30pm.
Also, remember that there is a Planning Meeting tomorrow (Wednesday, August 19th) at 8:30pm at Caribou. If you're a regular attender and want to get more involved in the group or share your feedback/ideas, this is the place to be!
And finally, if you want to attend the Canoe Trip on August 29th, contact Travis ASAP. We're canoeing 8 miles (wow, that sounds like a lot to me), and it should be fun! Cost is about $30.
For more info: talk to, call, or email Travis (travismeissner@gmail.com).

Skydiving, Girl's Night, & Praise & Worship
On Saturday, 9 of us jumped out of a plane at 14,000 feet, fell at 140 mph for about a minute, then floated 5,500 feet down to earth by parachute for about 5 minutes! It was an incredible experience! Thankfully, there were no injuries (at least not from the skydiving part). Here's a few pictures from the trip:

We're switching it up a bit on Tuesday night next week! Plan to join us at Tom's to worship God with one another through music. Don't worry, we'll still have time for prayer & fellowship!
Also, if you're a female, join us at my house on Sunday at 7pm for a Girl's Night. We're making cheese and chocolate fondue! Contact me (jillheaton@gmail.com) for more info.
